Volunteering abroad as an Undergraduate or Postgraduate student

Our Volunteers, Undergraduates - Physiotherapy

Working overseas as a volunteer while still in university has greatly increased in popularity in recent years. One of the reasons for this may be that people are accepting that they will graduate with a large student debt. Working during the holidays will only have a minimal impact on this, so why not spend your time doing something more productive? Your time volunteering can help make a difference in other people's lives, and it can really enhance your CV and future career prospects as well; for example on one of our voluntary internship work-experience placements in Business or Law.

With our minimum volunteering time being just one month, and with totally flexible start-dates, you can fit a voluntary project into Easter, Christmas or Summer Holidays.

Volunteering abroad as part of a University Course

Our Volunteers, Undergraduates - Medicine

Volunteering on a Projects Abroad placement is a fantastic way to complement your university course. Many students are required to spend a time away as part of their course - a Medical Elective for example - and our volunteering opportunities will guarantee you have a productive and enjoyable time, whilst removing all your organisational worries.

Alternatively you could volunteer on a placement as part of a study tour, or to improve the content of a university project. Projects Abroad have so many placements that match university subjects; if you studying Ecology or Geography you could volunteer on a Conservation & Environment Project; if you are reading English or Media Studies you could join us on a Journalism Project.

We also run highly-specialised University Dissertation Projects. These are designed to meet the needs of your individual dissertation title, and we can provide all the support you need to help you gain a wealth of primary source information.

Projects Abroad placements can easily be fit into your plans as a university student. You can choose what you want to do, where you want to do it, how long you want to do it for and when you want to start. We do not have a lengthy selection process and we won't interview you. All we ask for is the name of a university tutor who we can approach for a reference.

Our Volunteers, Undergraduates - Adam SpongAdam Spong - Medical Elective Volunteer in Mongolia
"My decision to come here rewarded me with a wealth of medical learning, interesting experiences and an opportunity to make some great friends. In total I spent seven weeks working in several departments at the Mongolian State 2nd General Hospital. I began my time in the Anaesthetic/Intensive Care Department which provided me with a fascinating contrast to the UK medical system since I had just spent the last three weeks at home working in the same specialty.
"I have loved every minute of my time in Mongolia. It's a unique place that as a friend once said "gets under your skin" and I couldn't agree more. When I leave I will be sad to go but I'm sure I will find an excuse to return. I would certainly recommend Mongolia as an elective destination with a difference, the challenges won't be easy but for me the rewards were plenty."
